dark—impulse:

Terra continued to nervously scratch the back of his head, as he listened.  “The water?” He frowned.  “The other students don’t seem to mind it.”  Terra frowned as her voice faltered.  “I understand.  It’s my first time coming here, as well.”

Terra shrugged when she asked him if he liked water.  Growing up in Radiant Garden, he had often been surrounded by fountains.  However, his rigorous training schedule wouldn’t allow him any free time to learn how to swim.

“Honestly…” Terra began.  “I don’t know how to swim.  I never had time to learn, growing up.”

Terra looked over at the water.  “I understand what you’re feeling.  The fear and anxiety is terrible.  But, I think that you should take a chance on it.  I’ll be right here with you.  Nothing will go wrong.”

Her head spanned back towards the brunette when he admitted his truth. Her mouth opened to form a tiny ‘o’. She held a quizzical gaze. So maybe he was not a local. She held a guarded posture, but released her cautiousness when he mentioned her feeling.

“I know how to swim- the minimum- but I am no professional.” She began. “I- would- You want to support me?” She raised an eyebrow.

She turned away from the stranger an faced the ocean. The water teased her toes when the waves came as the breeze came by. This stranger, whom she had no clue of, wanted to learn along with her into it. She began to think. Maybe this was the great perhaps she was looking for - trying new things, letting go of fears.

“Alright. I am going to do this.” she inhaled and began taking steps into the waves.

dark—impulse:

Terra continued to play with the shell in his hands, as he examined his surroundings. The beach was loud and crowded with several people. A few feet away from him, two boys sat on a towel, sea-salt ice cream in hand. On his other side, there were some girls sun tanning. As he turned his attention to the water, he noticed a young woman standing on the shoreline. The young woman had blue hair and seemed to be nervous about something.

Terra’s eyes followed her as she continued down the shoreline. She seemed to be anxious about the water. Was there something wrong with the water? Terra furrowed his brow in confusion as he tried to think of reasons why she would be afraid of the water. The other students didn’t seem to mind the water at all. If anything, they loved it. She seemed to be the only anxious person there. Terra noticed her walk away.

Feeling a strange need to comfort her, Terra stood up and approached her. He wasn’t quite sure what to say to her. Tell her that he noticed her anxiety?

“Um…hey.” Terra greeted her, nervously scratching the back of his head. “Is..is everything all right?”

Her racing mind stopped as a voice called out to her. Looking to her right, Aqua could see a stranger come towards to where she stood. She bit her lip in disquiet. “I’m doing alright, she began, “I’m just a little worried about the water here…” Her voice began to falter as she finished her sentence. She mentally smiled for the strangers’ choice to care ask about her troubles. “I’ve never been here before.”

She inspected the stranger. He seemed to be around her age, maybe a year older or so. Probably a local. “I bet you can get enough of the water like my friends, huh?” She nudged her head in the direction of students splashing the cool water at each other. “I’m not hydrophobic, I swear. I just have never came to a beach before.” she admitted.
